Bangladesh Olympic Association's (BOA) President and Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed has unveiled the logo and mascot of Sheikh Kamal 2nd Bangladesh Youth Games, reports BSS.
The logo and mascot unveiling ceremony was held on Friday night at Dhaka Cantonment Army Multipurpose Complex in the city. Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Md Atiqul Islam was also present as the special guest.
Speaking as the chief guest, the army chief said: "Bangladesh is moving forward and our sports is also moving as well. The main objective of this games is to find talented players from different parts of the country and we'll be able to enrich the national teams with the new talents."
Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was one of the country's sports organizers and a symbol of youth. His youthful sportsmanship constantly inspires the youth of the country. The youth of this generation will also show their talent and sportsmanship in various fields of sports and will become unique ordinary athletes in the future, he added.
The army chief said the logo of Sheikh Kamal 2nd Bangladesh Youth Games-2023 has the portrait of Sheikh Kamal, the symbol of youth, and the Weaver bird (Babui Pakhi) has been used as the mascot, which is a symbol of vivacity of life and the determination to move forward despite a hundred adversities.
The main objective of Sheikh Kamal Youth Games' is to encourage the budding youth across the country in sports and to enhance the country's image in the int'l arena with the participation of talented players. Like the last year, Bangladesh Army is partnering with the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) to make the games a success.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is the main patron of the Sheikh Kamal Youth Games while Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal and the Army Chief are the chairman and the co-chairman of the games respectively.
