The violence is increasing alarmingly across the country including the capital. Violence and attack on anti-entities are seen even due to very silly reasons. Incidents like murder, injury, shattering the houses, arson have been taking place. One group has been filing cases against others and vice versa.
Most of these daily occurrences are terrifying and thrilling. Relatives are choosing the worst path like murder even on the trivial incidents. Husband kills wife, wife kills husband, mother kills child, child kills parents, husband burns wife, brother kills brother. After the murder, the gruesome corpses are shaking people's conscience.
Violence is increasing mainly due to social degradation. In this month too, violent incidents including murder, rape have taken place in different districts of the country. The US-based organization The Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED) compiled a list of conflict and violence data from 240 countries and territories from July 2022 to July 2023. The position of Bangladesh is 22 in that list. Myanmar is at the top of the recently published list. It is followed by Syria, Mexico, Ukraine and Nigeria respectively. At the end of the list is the United States. The African country Somalia is at number 21 before Bangladesh in the list.
From January to July this year, 292 children were killed across the country. 57 of them were killed after physical torture. These facts have come out in the report of the country's human rights organization Law and Arbitration Center (ASK). ASK released this report on August 16. According to the report, 618 children were victims of violence in the first seven months of this year. Among these, 194 cases of rape involved. During this period, 353 women were raped. 25 people were killed after the rape. 299 women were victims of domestic violence from January to July this year. Among them, 134 women were killed by their husbands.
A young woman was gang-raped while visiting Barektila, a tourist spot in Tahirpur upazila of Sunamganj. A youth named Shamim Mia has been arrested by the police on this charge. Last Wednesday, the victim girl filed a case with Tahirpur police station mentioning the names of six people including her girlfriend.
On September 7, a teenager named Akash (14) was beaten to death on suspicion of being a thief in Tikkapara area of Mohammadpur, Dhaka. In this incident, Zahurul Islam Babu and Abdul Barek were arrested. The police said that Akash was detained and beaten up by security guards and construction workers on suspicion of being a thief. They recorded the video of the incident and shared it on Facebook and went viral. In this incident, Akash's cousin Malti Akhtar filed a case at Mohammadpur Police Station as the plaintiff.
On September 21, a local identified terrorist Suman alias Ragkata Suman beat and injured a teenager for no crime at all in Dhaka Udyan C Block of Mohammadpur. When the caretaker of the house next door tried to save the teenager, Suman, enraged, chop the caretaker's hands and feet with a machete and seriously injured him. His condition is critical. According to the police, there are 10 cases against the terrorist Suman in Mohammadpur and Adabar police stations for various crimes including robbery and extortion.
On September 8, a schoolboy named Sajin was hacked to death with a knife and a big dagger due to a dispute over the lease of the river ghat and boat serial in Narsingdi. At this time, five more people were seriously injured due to the hit of sharp weapons of the opponent. The deceased Sajin is the son of Amir Hossain of Kauriapara. He was an eighth grader at Alijan JM Academy.
