A massive stage has been prepared at the Victoria High School ground in Srimangal, Moulvibazar. Now, thousands of people are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate the third phase of the Family Card distribution programme at 1:00 pm on Wednesday in Srimangal, widely known as Bangladesh’s tea capital.
Since early morning, party leaders, activists and people from different parts of the district have been arriving at the venue by bus, CNG-run auto-rickshaw and other vehicles. A festive atmosphere has gripped the entire area ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit.
During the programme, the Prime Minister will distribute Family Cards and hand over assistance cheques to members of various ethnic minority communities and patients. He has already departed from Sylhet for Srimangal by road to attend the event.
A visit to the venue showed a large turnout of people from different walks of life alongside party activists. Members of various ethnic communities, dressed in colourful traditional attire, were seen at the gathering, while beneficiaries waited on one side of the field. Party supporters were eagerly anticipating a glimpse of both the party chairman and the Prime Minister.
“I arrived at 9:00 am to see the Prime Minister,” said Shahan Ali Musa. “Since he has come to the tea capital, thousands of people like me have gathered here.”
Meanwhile, extensive security measures have been put in place across Srimangal town ahead of the Prime Minister’s arrival.
