A sudden inspection by State Minister for Land Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin at Aminbazar and Ashulia revenue circle offices on the outskirts of Dhaka revealed various irregularities and shortcomings in service delivery, attendance discipline and administrative management.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the findings, he immediately directed the authorities to take necessary action.
Following the intervention of the state minister, service seekers said there has been a positive change in the operations of the two revenue offices.
According to service receivers, people had long suffered delays and harassment due to prolonged service procedures and negligence. However, recent supervision has improved the situation and brought momentum back to service delivery.
Service recipients said that such monitoring, if conducted regularly ensuring accountability of officials, would further reduce irregularities and ensure timely and effective services for the public. This would also increase public trust in government service delivery.
Rajibul Alam, a service seeker at Ashulia revenue circle office, said that noticeable positive changes have been observed compared to before. He added that officials have become more active and the pace of work has increased. He believes that regular monitoring and an accountability mechanism would further improve service quality and reduce public suffering.
Rojina Khatun, a resident of Aminbazar, expressed similar satisfaction. She said that the pace of work has increased and a sense of responsibility is now visible among officials. She also stressed the importance of regular monitoring and ensuring accountability to maintain service quality.
Meanwhile, State Minister Mir Mohammed Helal said the government will continue to ensure necessary services. He told Bangladesh Pratidin that the government’s goal is to ensure hassle-free, fast and effective services for citizens.
“No form of irregularity, corruption or negligence will be tolerated in service delivery. The government is working continuously to ensure transparent and easy land services at people’s doorsteps, and this effort will continue in the future as well,” he added.
