BNP has announced an eight-day program to mark the 45th martyrdom anniversary of BNP founder and martyred President Ziaur Rahman.
As part of the program, black flag hoisting, discussion meetings, photo exhibitions, doa mahfils and food and clothes distribution among the needy will be held across the country.
The party's Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the program at a press conference held at the BNP central office in Naya Paltan in the capital on Friday.
He said that on Saturday, flags will be flown at half-mast and black flags will be hoisted at the Naya Paltan central office and party offices across the country at 6 am.
In addition, senior party leaders led by the Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman will place wreaths and recite Fateha at the tomb of martyred President Ziaur Rahman in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar at 11 am.
Rizvi said that BNP and its affiliated organizations have already undertaken various programs.
These include discussion meetings, picture and photography exhibitions, dua mahfils and social activities.
He also said that food and clothes will be distributed among the distressed and helpless people in different areas of the north and south of Dhaka metropolis. Party leaders and activists will participate in these programs.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, “Martyred President Ziaur Rahman is one of the symbols of the country's independence, democracy and nationalist politics. These programs will be held to present his ideals to the new generation.”
