Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Fakir on Tuesday warned that no police personnel would be spared if found involved in drug dealing.
Speaking at an award distribution ceremony at Rajarbagh Police Lines in the capital, the IGP said strict action would be taken against any member of the force if allegations of involvement in the drug trade were proven.
He said maintaining discipline within the police force and preserving public trust remained top priorities, adding that the anti-narcotics stance had been strengthened further.
The IGP described drugs as a major threat to the country’s youth and future, saying police are working with sincerity and professionalism to tackle the challenge. However, he reiterated that any member found guilty of drug-related crimes would face tough legal action.
The police chief also said legal measures had already been taken against several police personnel over proven involvement in narcotics-related activities, making the force’s position on the issue clear.
Referring to the award recipients, he said their achievements reflected responsibility, professionalism and leadership.
The IGP urged all members of the force to continue serving the country with greater dedication and integrity, expressing hope that such achievements would inspire others in the future.
