The Election Commission (EC) has directed officials to settle National Identity Card (NID) correction applications by June.
Recently, EC Secretary Akter Ahmed gave instructions in this regard to NID Division director general ASM Humayun Kabir.
The EC Secretary's instructions state that 378,000 NID correction applications were pending, from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2024, of which 98,044 applications have been settled by crash program. 322,266 applications were submitted from January 1 to March 16 of which 179,926 applications have been settled. The remaining applications are awaiting settlement.
Accordingly, 422,308 applications have been pending since 2011. Initiatives must be taken to settle all pending applications by June.
