The government has handed over a check worth Tk 525.46 crore to clear the dues of laid-off workers from 14 organisations under Beximco Industrial Park.
In accordance with the directives of the labour and employment adviser, Brigadier General (Retd) Dr. M Sakhawat Hossain, Ministry of Labour and Employment Secretary AHM Shafiquzzaman handed over the check on Thursday to Osman Kaiser Chowdhury, managing director of Bangladesh Export Import Company (Beximco) Limited.
Starting from Sunday, payments will be made in phases to all workers and employees of the affected units at Beximco Industrial Park.
The approval of Tk 525.46 crore was granted following the decision of the 8th meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Labour and Business Review for Beximco Industrial Park.
This initiative was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Sakhawat Hossain and the sincere cooperation of Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, finance adviser.
