A new member is set to join the advisory council of the interim government. Professor CR Abrar will take the oath as an adviser on Wednesday (March 5), according to Shafiqul Alam, the Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary.
He shared this information during a briefing on contemporary issues held at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Tuesday.
The Press Secretary stated that Professor CR Abrar is expected to take the oath as an adviser around 11:00 AM. He will be appointed as the Education Adviser. Currently, Professor Wahiduddin Mahmud is serving as the Adviser for Education and Planning.
On February 25, Md. Nahid Islam resigned from his position as an adviser to the interim government. Following his resignation, Mahfuj Alam was given charge of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Now, it has been confirmed that another new adviser will be appointed.
The interim government, led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus as the Chief Adviser, was formed on August 8 following the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government amid student and public protests. Several new advisers have been appointed since then, bringing the total number of advisers in the government, including the Chief Adviser, to 21.
