South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) General Secretary Anwarul Huq Helal has resigned from his position on February 28 without disclosing the reason, reports the Daily Sun.
According to media reports, his resignation will be effective from 1st of April this year.
When asked about his resignation, the veteran football organizer said: “I don’t want to make any public comment at this moment. Everything will be clear when the time comes.”
Helal, the former General Secretary of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), had been serving as SAFF GS since 2015.
Experienced football organizer Helal, who renewed his contract as the SAFF general secretary early this year, suddenly resigned from the post, showing personal reasons.
His sudden resignation, just two months after the contract renewal, has raised questions.
When asked about Helal’s resignation, SAFF President Kazi Md Salahuddin said: “Mr. Helal has resigned. He can explain the reasons behind his sudden decision.”
