The list of Bangla Academy Awards has been temporarily suspended due to allegations of involvement in crimes against some of the awardees this year, said Bangla Academy Director General Mohammad Azam.
On Sunday, he said if anyone on the list is accused of the July massacre, it will be canceled. The new list of awardees will be published within three days.
Earlier, on Saturday, a notice signed by Bangla Academy director general Professor Mohammad Azam informed about the suspension of the list.
A meeting of the 'Bangla Academy Literary Award Committee 2024' was held at Bangla Academy at 6 pm on Saturday. In the meeting, the need to reconsider the previously announced 'Bangla Academy Literary Award 2024' was discussed due to the socio-political situation that arose and some allegations were raised about some of the awardees. A decision was taken to investigate the allegations raised.
The previously announced list of 'Bangla Academy Literary Award 2024' has been suspended. The list will be republished after review within a maximum of three working days, according to the decisions of the meeting.
