Police have arrested three people in Moulvibazar in connection with the shooting death of former Khulna councilor Golam Rabbani in Cox's Bazar.
Cox's Bazar superintendent of police Rahmat Ullah confirmed the matter on Tuesday evening. He claimed that all three arrested were directly involved in the murder. He also said that the firearm used in the murder has been recovered.
Cox's Bazar district police additional superintendent of police Jasim Uddin Chowdhury said that one of the three arrested is a woman. The three of them were arrested together from Moulvibazar on Tuesday afternoon. They are being brought to Cox's Bazar.
Earlier, Golam Rabbani Tipu was shot dead by miscreants on the sidewalk in front of the Sea-Gal Hotel adjacent to the Cox's Bazar sea beach on the night of January 9. The next day, Friday, the deceased's brother-in-law Yunus Ali Sheikh filed a murder case against unknown accused at the Cox's Bazar Sadar Police Station.
According to information, detainees Iftekhar and Golam Rabbani Tipu checked into Hotel Golden Hill in the Kalatoli area of Cox's Bazar town on Thursday morning. They were accompanied by a woman named Rumi (27). She has been absconding since the incident.
