Former textiles and jute minister and former Awami League lawmaker from the Narayanganj-1 constituency, Golam Dastagir Gazi, was placed on a three-day remand on Thursday in connection with the murder of school student Roman in Rupganj, Narayanganj.
Narayanganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Haider Ali passed the order after the police sought a seven-day remand for the accused, said Advocate Sakhawat Hossain, former president of the Narayanganj District Bar Association, reports UNB.
Roman was shot dead in Rupganj during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, said the lawyer.
A case was subsequently filed regarding the murder, in which Gazi was named as one of the accused, he added.
