The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has given the interim government an ultimatum to issue the proclamation of the July Uprising by January 15.
At the 'March for Unity' programme held at the Central Shaheed Minar on Tuesday afternoon, Hasnat Abdullah, the convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, made this demand.
“We have no other enemies except Awami League. Law and order have not normalized. The interim government failed to control the price of daily commodities,” said Hasnat.
Akhter Hossen, member secretary of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee, echoed the same message as Hasnat, urging the interim government to issue the proclamation of the July Uprising without delay.
According to Akhter, there will be a Constituent Assembly [Gono Parishad]. They will draft the charter and give the final approval.
Nasiruddin Patwari, convener of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee, said, "We aim to build a new Bangladesh by embracing the spirit of '24’(Mass uprising of 2024)."
Sarjis Alam, chief organizer of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee, emphasized the need for "the speedy trial of genocide, price control, and repatriation of embezzled funds."
Earlier, on Tuesday (December 31), students and young people from across the country began gathering at the Shaheed Minar to join the 'March for Unity' program called by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. Families of the injured and deceased protesters also joined the rally.
