Students have been gathering at the Central Shaheed Minar for the 'March for Unity' since this morning (Dec 31), following the mass gathering announcement made earlier today.
The call was made at 1:45 am by the student leaders.
Students are chanting slogans as they gather across the Dhaka University campus, including 'Amar vai kobore, khuni keno bahire' (My brother is in the grave, why is the killer outside?), 'Delhi na Dhaka? Dhaka, Dhaka'' (Delhi or Dhaka? Dhaka, Dhaka), 'Rokter bonnay, bheshe jabe onnay' (In the flood of blood, injustice will be swept away), and 'Abu Sayed Mugdho, shesh hoy ni juddho' (Abu Sayed Mugdho, war is not over yet).
The main event is scheduled to begin at 3 pm.
After the program was announced early Tuesday, stage preparations began at dawn.
Students have emphasized that the event carries significant importance as a symbol of national unity.
