Hasnat Abdullah, the convener of the anti-discrimination student movement, has expressed discontent over the application fees of various universities.
He said, ‘Education is everyone’s right, not a commodity.’
He wrote this in a post on her verified Facebook account on Saturday.
In the post, Hasnat said, ‘Application fees of thousands of taka, along with travel and accommodation expenses – the current admission process is a terrible financial burden for students. The future of every student becomes uncertain for it. This system is not evaluating merit, but building walls of discrimination. Is higher education only for the rich? Reduce application fees, keep the cluster system running.’
