Sarjis Alam, one of the coordinators and front-men of the anti-discrimination student movement, said, "Bangladesh's relationship with India will be determined by their own accord. If India wants to keep the relationship good, it will have to return the killer Sheikh Hasina without giving her shelter. The people of Bangladesh will make her face the trial."
He said this at a program organized by the July Shaheed Smriti Foundation at the Rajshahi District Shilpakala Academy on Saturday afternoon. Sarjis Alam, who’s also the general secretary of July Shaheed Smriti Foundation said, "There will be no concessions if you betray the faith of the mass uprising. Instead of punishing the police members who opened fire, lobbying for new postings by transferring them is going on. Leaders of various political parties and senior officials of the administration are getting involved in doing business on cases."
Regarding the trial of the July-August massacre, he said, "If it is not necessary to exhume the bodies from the graves for the trial of Sheikh Mujib's murder, why the bodies of the July-August martyrs should be exhumed? No more martyrs' bodies will be allowed to be exhumed from their graves.”
Sarjis Alam handed over financial assistance checks to the martyr families of Rajshahi Division. Out of the 63 martyr families of Rajshahi Division, 46 families were given financial assistance from the July Shaheed Smriti Foundation. Each martyr family was given Tk five lakh as assistance.
