The foreign affairs adviser of the interim government Md Touhid Hossain said they will go away after handling over power to the politicians through elections.
The adviser on Saturday made this remark at a view-exchange meeting with stake holders including government officials, freedom fighters, politicians, journalists, public representatives, and civil society representatives of Narsingdi's Belabo upazila organized by the upazila administration.
At the beginning of the meeting, they observed one-minute silence in memory of those who killed during the July-August uprising.
“The government aims to hand over power through a neutral and proper election. There are no doubts about that,” he said, adding: “Our first job is to bring back stability in the country.”
Regarding the current tensions in Bangladesh-India relations, he said: “We want good relations with all the country based on respect and equality.”
The interim government is working to this end, he said, adding: “We told India that Bangladesh wants a good relationship with them based on the interests of both nations.”
Belabo upazila UNO Md Abdul karim presided over the program while many other former and current government officials were present at the meeting.
