Information and Broadcasting Advisor Nahid Islam said, “The genocide committed by the fascist Awami League government during the July Uprising is unimaginable in a word. Every person in Bangladesh wants this genocide to be trialed. The current interim government is committed to trial this genocide through transparency and impartiality. Bangladesh wants to set an example in front of the world regarding the trial of genocide.”

He said this when a delegation of the International Jurists Union came to meet him at the office of the Advisor to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

At the beginning ofmeeting, the video 'July Anirban' made on the July Uprising was shown to the delegation.

Nahid Islam said, “The dictator Hasina fled the country on August 5 due to the uprising. Then, for the absence of the government for three days, many fascist supporters got the opportunity to flee the country. We have started the work ofholding trial the genocide. In the initial stage, the work of collecting various information and data is going on.”

When the delegation asked about the duration and process of the July Genocide trial, the advisor said the July Genocide trial will be completed as soon as possible in a very transparent manner and following international standards. This trial will never be vindictive, because justice means justice.

The information advisor also said that there is a consensus among all anti-fascist parties on the genocide trial. He also expects cooperation everyone from home and abroad to advance this trial process.

The information advisor said that this trial is not only to establish the rights of the persecuted and genocide victims of Bangladesh, but it is necessary to complete the trial process as a consequence of crimes against humanity in the world. The international community is watching this trial process and the current interim government is looking at the matter seriously.

Nahid Islam also said that the current interim government will accept the advice, cooperation and experience of the International Jurist Union.

The members of the delegation commented that the genocide that took place in the July Mass Uprising is a clear crime and should be go punished. They morally support the trial of the July massacre and also said they are ready to fully cooperate with the interim government in prosecuting the perpetrators of the massacre.
