Legal adviser Asif Nazrul criticized the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the judiciary for becoming subservient to the Awami League.
His remarks came during a discussion held on Monday at 10 am at the Liberation War Memorial Hall, IDEB, organized by the ACC in observance of International Anti-Corruption Day.
Highlighting various instances of corruption during the ousted Awami League government, he said, "The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) was there, the higher court was also there... was there any judgment? Who would be judged... Begum Khaleda Zia. She had kept three crore taka in one place... for procedural errors... no one embezzled a single taka from it... embezzling means enjoying it. Did anyone do that? Three crore taka was in the bank, and it became six crore. No one touched that money, yet the country's three-time Prime Minister had been sentenced to 10 years in prison."
"And that corrupt Sheikh Hasina, whose entire family was involved in corruption, repeatedly claimed across the country that Begum Zia had embezzled orphan's money. No one dared to speak against that corrupt leader. The ACC became her subordinate, and the judiciary was reduced to her servant."
