Electoral Reform Commission Chief Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder said, “Local government elections should be non-partisan. In addition, local government representatives have proposed to make local government elections non-partisan.”

He told the reporters after the commission’s meeting held in the cabinet room of the Jatiya Sangsad on Sunday.

Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder said, “Former local government representatives have proposed to hold national elections after completing local elections. They also want the national elections to be held under a non-partisan government. They demand that local governments be kept free from control.”

He also said, “As long as the Electoral Reform Commission has its term, we will take reform proposals. We want to complete our tasks by December 31.”
