Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “The top leaders of Jamaat were brutally killed through judicial process. We want justice for these murders. We want it from Almighty Allah, and we want it in the world's courts as well. We want to see that the injustice done to them is properly rectified."
“Today, the people of Bangladesh should shout it loud that they were not killed, rather humanity was killed,” he said.
He said this while talking as the chief guest at a huge gathering of the activists organized by Faridpur District Jamaat-e-Islami at the Government Rajendra College (City Branch) ground on Sunday afternoon.
Under the presidency of District Jamaat Ameer Maulana Muhammad Badruddin, the central committee's assistant secretary general AHM Hamidur Rahman Azad, central executive committee member Mubarak Hossain, central Majlish Surah member Shamsul Islam Al Barati, Professor Abdut Tawab and other central and local leaders spoke on the ocasion.
The Jamaat Ameer criticized the Awami League and said that they have partisanized everything to stay in power. While in power, they have carried out oppression, torture, murder and enforced disappearances to the people of the country. In 2006, they brutally killed Jamaat leaders and activists with sticks. In 2009, they systematically killed 57 patriotic army officers in Pilkhana. The countrymen want to know the name of gthe mastermind behind the killings. We are demanding justice for this murder.”
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman also said, “If Allah gives us the opportunity, then we will all form a welfare state regardless of race, religion, or caste. We want a country where there will be no violence and hatred based on religion. There will be no need to guard temples, mosques, churches, pagodas. People will respect people and stand with their heads held high.”
"No patriot runs away," he said, commenting that the Awami League did not love the country.
“They ran away because they were not patriots. If you love people, you do not have to run away from the country,” he added.
