Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan on Thursday called for resolving conflicts through dialogue with the government, urging all parties, including students, to avoid destructive activities that could harm the national interest.

Speaking at a press briefing at the Foreign Services Academy, Rizwana emphasized the importance of negotiation to address disputes.

The press briefing highlighted discussions from the council of advisers’ meeting chaired by Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus.

“Following small conflicts, actions should not be taken that undermine our efforts to protect the national interest. We urge everyone to resolve disputes through dialogue with the government,” Rizwana said, reports UNB.

She urged aggrieved individuals to approach the government before resorting to street protests.

Adviser Rizwana encouraged individuals with grievances to use proper channels, such as raising concerns with the authorities or through press briefings, rather than engaging in destructive acts.

At the briefing, Adviser Mahfuj Alam addressed the recent killing of a lawyer in Chattogram, acknowledging underlying tensions within certain sections of society.

He reported that two cases have been filed, with more expected, and assured that the perpetrators will face justice.

“The government has initiated steps to ensure that those responsible are not spared,” he said.

Mahfuj commended the collective efforts of the people, political parties, and religious communities in resisting attempts to incite communal unrest.

The adviser said Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested on a specific charge.

Mahfuj also provided updates on discussions between Chief Adviser Prof Yunus and delegations from the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami. Both parties emphasized the need for national unity to safeguard the country’s sovereignty and stability.

Dr. Yunus sought their cooperation in combating communal unrest, extremism, and violence, Mahfuj noted.

The delegations offered constructive proposals and expressed their willingness to assist the government in maintaining peace and order.

“We are engaging with all stakeholders to prevent communal chaos and ensure stability,” Mahfuj added.

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam was also present at the briefing.
