Jamaat-e Islami secretary general Mia Golam Parwar said as there was no right for any people in the tenure of ‘democracy killer’ Sheikh Hasina, the talk on democracy doesn’t suit to Awami League (AL).
“In 14, 18, 24, the people of the country could not vote. Before going to the polling station, the members of Awami League, Jubo League, Chhatra League, and Police League told them that their votes were cast; so go from here. I was a member of parliament, but I could not vote either,” he said.
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the Jamaat activists’ conference organized by the District Jamaat Islami at Manikganj Government High School ground Saturday afternoon.
Jamaat secretary general said, “Sheikh Mujibur Rahman destroyed the democracy in this country before anyone else. To consolidate his power, he banned all political parties and established the so-called Bakshal. He closed all the newspapers and kept only four of his favorite newspapers open. What is the purpose of closing newspapers for democracy? He talked about the ladder he climbed to power, but after coming to power, he threw that ladder away. He could not get down again from there. So, the talk on democracy does not suit Awami League.”
At the same time, he also said that even if many of the conspirators fled the country, the conspirators did not stop. Their conspiracies are still running. He told the people of Gopalganj that he would sneak into the country at any time. Everyone should be aware. In these seventeen years, all institutions including education, judiciary, banks have been destroyed. Jamaat members have been hanged and jailed completely unjustly. Even while a few people were sitting and having tea, the police came and arrested them and filed a missing person’s case. In exchange for the blood of the students, Allah saved the countrymen from this oppression.
