A court here on Wednesday sentenced five individuals to life imprisonment for the murder of a minor boy in Lohagara upazila in 2015, reports BSS.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Md Shajahan Ali delivered the verdict, sentencing Shimul Mollik(44), Syed Liton(41), Jahidur Rahman Mithu(44), Syed Jahangir(69), and Shamima Begum(69), all residents of Kalachandpur village in Lohagara.
According to the prosecution, the body of the victim, Shahin Fakir, was discovered in a pond at Kalachandpur village on September 30, 2015. He had been missing for a week prior to his murder.
Following the incident, Shahin’s uncle filed a case with Lohagara Police Station, accusing the five individuals.
After considering witness testimonies and evidence, the court pronounced its ruling, as confirmed by Additional Public Prosecutor Kazi Ziaur Rahman.
In addition to the life sentence, each of the convicted individuals was fined Taka 10,000.
