Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) successfully seized 100,000 Yaba pills early Wednesday morning in the Palongkhali border area of Ukhiya upazila, Cox's Bazar district.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from BGB-34 launched a special operation in the Farir Beel area at around 1:30 AM. During the raid, the officers discovered the drugs, which were abandoned and left in the area. According to Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al Mashruki, the commanding officer of BGB-34, the Yaba pills were found in large quantities, but no individuals were apprehended during the operation.
Yaba, a highly addictive drug commonly smuggled into Bangladesh from neighboring Myanmar, has been a significant issue for law enforcement in the region. This recent seizure is part of ongoing efforts by the Border Guard Bangladesh to combat the illegal drug trade along the country's borders.
Despite the large haul, no arrests have been made so far, and investigations are ongoing to trace those responsible for attempting to smuggle the drugs into the country. The BGB remains committed to intensifying its vigilance and actions to curb drug trafficking in the area.
