Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said misinformation is being spread over the vessel which has recently arrived in Bangladesh from Pakistan.
He said this while briefing journalists at the media centre of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) after exchanging views with the law enforcement agencies on Tuesday (November 19).
The adviser said, “We make mistakes. You can point out these mistakes. I request you not to publish and broadcast false news. Media of our neighbouring country is circulating misinformation about Bangladesh.”
Speaking about India’s concern over the ship coming from Pakistan, Jahangir Alam said, “The ship has arrived from the Middle East via one country. Is there a ban on the ships of any country in Bangladesh? Are we bound to someone that will only serve them?”
“Date, onions and potatoes are essential for us as the month of Ramadan is knocking on the door. Do we not let these come? Those who are spreading misinformation are our enemies,” he added.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Mainul Islam and DG of RAB Additional IGP AKM Shahidur Rahman among others, were present at the press conference.
