On Tuesday morning, November 19, followers of Maulana Saad staged a protest in front of the Chief Justice's residence, demanding permission for his participation in the Ijtema. The protestors cleared the road after receiving an assurance of a meeting with Chief Advisor Prof. Muhammad Yunus.
Meanwhile, the dates for next year's two-phase Bishwa Ijtema have been finalized.
The first phase will take place from January 31 to February 2, under the leadership of Shura-e-Nezam, while the second phase will be held from February 7 to 9, led by the Saad group.
This was announced in a notification from the Ministry of Home Affairs' Public Security Division on Sunday (Nov 17).
The notification further stated that in his opening address, the president highlighted the Bishwa Ijtema's significant role in enhancing the country's image abroad. He emphasized the importance of leveraging past experiences to make this year's Ijtema even more memorable and impactful.
Additionally, the notification outlined the procedure for the handover of the Ijtema ground.
The organizers of the first phase will transfer the ground to the Ijtema Ground Preparation Committee, led by the Divisional Commissioner of Dhaka, by 3:00 pm on February 4, after their event concludes.
The organizers of the second phase will take charge of the ground later that afternoon, and, following the conclusion of the Ijtema, the ground will be handed back to the committee by noon on February 11.
