The court has granted a two-day remand for former IGP AKM Shahidul Haque and Joint Secretary AKMG Kibria Majumdar in connection with the second case filed over the petrol bomb attack on a bus in Chouddagram, Comilla.
On Monday, November 12, former IGP AKM Shahidul Haque and Joint Secretary AKMG Kibria Majumdar were presented before Comilla Senior Judicial Magistrate Farhana Sultana’s court. The investigating officer had requested a 10-day remand for questioning, but following the hearing, the court granted a two-day remand for each of the two individuals in connection with the petrol bomb attack on a bus in Chouddagram, Comilla.
Previously, they were transported to court from Comilla Central Jail in a police van.
Comilla court prosecutor (PP) Kaimul Haque Rinku stated that when AKM Shahidul Haque and Joint Secretary AKMG Kibria Majumdar were brought before the court, the state party initially requested their arrest in connection with the fatal bus attack that resulted in the deaths of eight passengers. Following the request, the court accepted the application and ordered their arrest in the case.
The prosecutor also mentioned that the investigating officer initially sought a 10-day remand for both AKM Shahidul Haque and AKMG Kibria Majumdar for questioning. However, after the hearing, the court granted a two-day remand for each. In addition, another individual, Zahirul Islam, was also granted a two-day remand in connection with the case. The court has ordered that all three be interrogated by November 27.
