The current interim government has made a policy decision to repeal the controversial Cyber Security Act.
This decision was made at a meeting chaired by Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus at the Chief Adviser's Office in Tejgaon, Dhaka, on Thursday.
After the meeting, Environment adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan briefed the media.
On October 3, the law adviser said, “Cyber Security Act should definitely be abolished and we will do that. Ultimately, it will be abolished.”
The law adviser also talked about introducing a new law. The basic goal of this law will be to protect all the citizens.
Last year, during the Awami League government's rule, the controversial Digital Security Act was repealed and the Cyber Security Act was enacted. However, this new law faced objections from journalists, leading to widespread debate and criticism. Now, the interim government has made a policy decision to abolish this law.
