The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has seized all bank accounts of former captain of the Bangladesh cricket team and former lawmaker Shakib Al Hasan.

Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Husne Ara Shikha confirmed this information to the media on Wednesday saying “All bank accounts of Shakib Al Hasan have been frozen.”

The chances of Shakib Al Hasan’s early return to the country have further diminished due to the latest initiative taken by the Bangladesh Bank. He is currently residing in the United States with his family. 

Earlier on October 2, BFIU sought detailed information about the bank accounts of Shakib Al Hasan and his wife Umme Ahmed Shishir to inquire into the stock market manipulation and financial irregularities.
