BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas addressed the interim government and said, "There is no need for any deception. Inform the nation when you want to hold elections."
The veteran BNP politician made this remark on Tuesday at Dhaka Reporters Unity while attending a program on the death anniversary of Mesbah Uddin Ahmed(a heroic freedom fighter).
“The situation of the country is a bit complicated. I think it will get worse. We want to believe that this government will show the nation a ray of hope,” said Mirza Abbas
The BNP Standing Committee member advised the chief adviser not to do anything that would make the people lose faith in him.
The government commented that political parties, including the BNP, had become desperate to come to power.
Mirza Abbas was not too fond of the comment as he criticized the government harshly.
"What if we say that you have become desperate to stay in power as you have not talked about the election?"
Addressing the interim government, this senior BNP politician added, "There is no need for any deception. Inform the people when you intend to hold elections. The nation wants to know—will you keep them in a state of uncertainty while they sit idly by and watch? Don’t assume that will happen."
