The adviser of the Ministry of Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Md Nahid Islam said that after all the necessary reforms is completed, the general election will be held on the basis of national consensus.
He said, “We got new Bangladesh through the mass uprising of the students. The fascist government committed many irregularities and corruption in the country for the last 16 years. The interim government has begun to rebuild the country.”
He said this while meeting Norwegian Ambassador Haakon Arald Gulbrandsen at the office of the Information and Communication Technology Department on Monday.
Nahid Islam said that the government wants to develop relations with Norway as a development partner. Also expects investment in development of information technology and development of mass media. The adviser sought Norway's advice and cooperation in the reconstruction of the country.
Ambassador Haakon Arald Gulbrandsen said that Norway is ready to support the reconstruction of new Bangladesh from the side of the interim government.
When the ambassador asked Nahid Islam about the cyber security law, the advisor said that the law will be repealed within a week and all the cases filed under this law will also be cancelled.
He also commented that not only this law but all the laws that hinder expression of freedom are being reviewed.
In the case of reforms, the decision will be taken in consultation with the stakeholders, he added.
