Joint forces raided the residence of Mohammad Amjad Hossain, former Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development and Cooperatives, in Uttara on Sunday night. The operation resulted in the seizure of 10.95 million BDT in cash and 11 iPhones.
Following the raid, police arrested both Mohammad Amjad Hossain and his son.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohammad Rafiqul Islam of Uttara West Thana confirmed this on Monday morning.
He said that Mohammad Amjad Hossain and his son are currently in custody, and a case has also been filed against them.
According to sources from the operation, a joint raid by the army and police was conducted at the residence based on confidential information, beginning at 10 PM on Sunday night. During the operation, authorities seized 10.95 million BDT in cash, several foreign currencies, 11 iPhones, and luxury brand watches.
Amjad Hossain Khan retired in 2020 after serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Rural Development and Cooperatives.
His ancestral home is in Gazipur Sadar.
