Jasim Uddin Mollah, former DC (Superintendent of Police) of Mirpur, accused of the July-August massacre, has been arrested from Rangpur early Wednesday.
International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) prosecutor Abdullah Al Noman confirmed the matter to journalists this morning (October 30).
He said Jasim Uddin Mollah will be produced before the ICT today.
Jasim Uddin will be the first accused of the July-August bloodshed who will appear before the tribunal.
On August 13, Jasim Uddin was attached to the Rangpur Range DIG office.
On October 17, ICT issued an arrest warrant against 46 persons including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former DC Jasim Uddin Mollah, former DMP commissioner Habibur Rahman and 15 other police officials.
