Adviser of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan, has said that the interim government will take initiatives to establish agricultural markets aimed at delivering farmer’s products directly to consumers and breaking the existing syndicates.
He made this statement today at Begunbari during the inauguration of the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB)'s initiative to sell products at subsidized prices to consumers through mobile trucks at 50 locations across Dhaka.
Adviser Asif stated, “The rise in commodity prices is currently due to several factors, including flooding, and the market is suffering from increased prices and public hardship caused by syndicates and hoarding, prompting the government to take a firm stance against this.”
“The government will provide support to those facilitating this process. We are exploring the establishment of alternative agricultural markets to enable farmers to sell their products directly,” he stated, adding that efforts are underway to ensure that products reach consumers directly from the farmers.
The adviser also noted that the task force has initiated long-term efforts to break down all the syndicates.
He said, “Private initiatives to transport goods from farmers to consumers need to be expanded, and private entrepreneurs must step up.”
He emphasized that this approach will help dismantle the syndicates, stating, “The agricultural market will assist in breaking the syndicates. The government will work on a long-term solution to this issue.”
