The government of Bangladesh appointed Salahuddin Noman chowdhury as the new permanent representative to United Nations Headquarter in New York, who was previously in charge of Bangladesh ambassador in Nepal.
The ministry of foreign affairs issued notification appointing Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury on Sunday.
Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury will serve in this position until reassignment. As a result, he will replace Mohammad Abdul Muhith, who has been serving as the permanent representative in New York for more than 2 years. Ambassador Muhith, who was in charge since June 2022, is set to retire next December.
BCS (International Cadre) 17th batch officer Salahuddin Noman has been serving as Bangladesh Ambassador in Kathmandu since November 11, 2020.
The diplomat who joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1998 has previously worked in various positions in the Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi and Islamabad, the Bangladesh Consulate in New York and the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations.
Salahuddin Noman, a graduate of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), has held various positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka, External Affairs, Multilateral Economic Affairs, Protocol, United Nations and Southeast Asia Division and Foreign Service Academy.
