The Advisory Council made this decision during a recent meeting, where they resolved to cancel eight national observances. The Cabinet Division is expected to issue an official notification about these changes soon.
The canceled days include several notable occasions: the historic March 7, March 17 (the birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children's Day), August 5 (the birth anniversary of Sheikh Kamal, brother of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina), August 8 (the birth anniversary of Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnessa Mujib, Sheikh Hasina's mother), August 15 (the death anniversary of Bangabandhu and National Mourning Day), October 18 (Sheikh Russell Day, brother of Sheikh Hasina), November 4 (National Constitution Day), and December 12 (Smart Bangladesh Day).
