Supreme Court lawyers demonstrated on the court premises, demanding the removal of 30 High Court judges, accusing them of corruption and flattering the previous government of Sheikh Hasina, reports BSS.
Over one hundred lawyers participated in the demonstration, marching in a procession toward the Chief Justice's office. The lawyers chanted various slogans, calling for the resignation of judges who were appointed by the ousted Hasina’s government.
Later a delegation of senior lawyers, including Gias Uddin Ahmed, Mohsin Rashid, Shah Ahmed Badal, Syed Mamun Mahbub, ABM Rafikul Haque Talukder Raza, Julfiqar Ali Junu, and Qazi Joynul Abedin, met with Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed at his office and placed their demand.
"Following the assurance of the chief justice, we are adjourning our program till October 21. We would declare our next program on that day," said advocate Syed Mamun Mahbub.
On September 30, the demonstrating lawyers gave an ultimatum for the resignation of the 'highly corrupt and biased' judges by October 20.
