Five people were killed in separate road accidents in Mirsarai and Hathazari upazilas of Chattogram on Tuesday, reports UNB
In Mirsarai's Khoiyachhora area, a truck collided with a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw, killing all four passengers on the spot. They were on their way to Sitakunda to join an event.
According to the police and witnesses, the auto-rickshaw got smashed and the truck fell into a roadside ditch after the accident.
The deceased were - Kajol Rekha, Nurjahan, Shirina, and 7-month-old infant Nihat.
Sohel Sarkar, the OC of Jorarganj Highway Police Station, said they went to the spot after receiving news of the accident and recovered the bodies.
In a separate incident in Hathazari upazila, a madrasa student named Mohammad Azwad Mahin was killed after being hit by a bus.
After the accident, his fellow madrasa students and local residents blocked the road. After a while police arrived at the scene and they brought the situation under control.
