Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus said on Saturday that celebrating various festivals including Durga Puja with the help of the army, police, and RAB is a failure of our society.
“We all will have to work together so that we can observe these festivals without the help of the law enforcement agencies,” Yunus said this while visiting Dhakeshwari National Temple in the capital.
During his visit, he also exchanged greetings with the members of Hindu community on the auspicious occasion of the Durga Puja, the largest Hindu religious festival in Bangladesh, said the Chief Adviser's press wing.
Prof Yunus also praised the tireless efforts of the members of different law enforcement agencies and extended his heartiest thanks to them for celebrating the puja festival in a peaceful manner across the country.
The law enforcement agencies have done a tough job and proved that a tough job is done easily if all concern people work together sincerely.
The law enforcement agencies proved that even the toughest tasks can be accomplished easily when all concerned parties work together sincerely, he said.
About the failure of the society, he said, “We have not yet been able to build a society where one group can celebrate joyous events and festivals without excluding others, where all people will take part in celebration together. What will we do with such a society? Is this the kind of society we want? No, we do not want such a society.”
