BNP has extended all-out support to the nationwide 'complete shutdown' programme for today (Thursday), announced by the Anti-discrimination Student Movement in protest against attacks on students at various university campuses that resulted in at least six deaths.
Party Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the announcement during a virtual press briefing on Wednesday night.
He said their party's standing committee meeting had decided to fully support the students' programme for Thursday, UNB reports.
On behalf of BNP, he called upon people from all walks of life to participate in the complete shutdown programme to ensure its success.
Earlier, Hasnat Abdulla, coordinator of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement, announced a "Complete Shutdown" across the country for Thursday.
