The Dhaka University (DU) has undertaken five decisions, including the ouster of the outsiders from its residential halls against the backdrop of the confrontational situation over the quota reform issue.
Earlier in the day, the Provost Standing Committee of the DU held an emergency meeting in a bid to put an end to the chaotic situation erupted between the quota reformists and the activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League, Daily Sun reports.
After emerging from the meeting, Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal, vice chancellor of DU, told journalists that from now on, no outsiders can stay in any residential hall of the university.
The meeting also asked all students to remain in their halls peacefully, he said.
Besides, all provosts and house tutors were also asked to stay overnight in their respective halls to prevent any further untoward incidents.
The students were also advised stay aside from all misleading and disinformation and subversive activities for the sake of peaceful atmosphere of the university, he said.
