Director General (DG) of International Organization of Migration (IOM) of United Nations Amy Pope arrived in Dhaka on Sunday on a 5-day visit.
He was welcomed by IOM Bangladesh Chief Abdus Sattar Isov and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport in Dhaka after 12 am.
During the five-day visit, Amy Pope will call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Minister of State for Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury and several ministers and secretaries of the government. He will visit the Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar and meet with government and private officials.
Amy Pope will release IOM's annual migration report in Dhaka on Tuesday. The Director General of IOM will leave Dhaka after his visit to Bangladesh next Thursday.
It is known that the heads of various United Nations organizations will visit Dhaka on the occasion of 50 years of relations, and the visits visit started with IOM Director General Amy Pope.
