The General Secretary of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), Charu Chandra Das Brahmachari, has stated that the statements of expelled member Chinmoy Krishna Das are entirely his personal opinions, and ISKON will not take responsibility for them.
He has made this statement today(Thursday) at a press conference at the Swamibagh Asram in Dhaka.
Charu Chandra Das Brahmachari clarified that ISKON has no connection to India’s comments or stance regarding Chinmoy Krishna Das. He added that ISKON is not accountable for any individual’s actions or statements concerning Chinmoy.
He further said, “ISCKON is being unfairly linked to the murder of a lawyer in Chattogram and denied any responsibility for a road accident. He explained that Chinmoy Krishna Das was removed from the organization long ago due to various controversial activities, including misconduct with children.”
On November 25, at around 4:30 PM, Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) from the airport area in Dhaka.
Earlier, on October 31, expelled BNP leader Firoz Khan filed a case at Kotwali Police Station, accusing Chinmoy Krishna Das and 19 others.
The lawsuit alleges that after the August 5 uprising in Bangladesh, anti-discrimination students hoisted a national flag on a pillar at Zero Point at Newmarket Junction in the city, which is still there. On October 25, a mass gathering was held at Laldighi ground under the initiative of Bangladesh Sanatan Jagran Manch.
Thousands of people from various parts of the Chattogram division participated in the rally. On that day, under the instigation of accused Chandan Kumar Dhar and nine others, ISKCON’s religious flag was hoisted at the Zero Point pillar near the New Market and installed it there. This act caused widespread outrage among the general public.
In reaction to the case, ISKON Pundarik Dham Official (the Facebook Page of Isckon) shared a video statement by Chinmoy Krishna Das regarding the sedition charges. In the statement, Chinmoy Krishna Das described the case as an attempt to derail the peaceful eight-point demand movement of the Sanatani community.
