Five people were killed as the rope for getting onto a launch was torn at Sadarghat launch terminal in the capital around 3:30 pm. on Thursday, the very day of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Naval Police of Sadarghat Police Station Abul Kalam Azad confirmed the matter to the media.
However, the names and identities of the five people killed, including women and children, were not immediately known. Initially, it was reported that the accident happened due to tearing up of the rope used to assist get the passengers onto the launch.
