The chief of highway police, additional IGP Md. Shahabuddin Khan on Sunday said 3 tier arrangements will be facilitated on Highway on the occasion of Eid-ul fitr.
“Highway Police’s service will be available ahead of Eid, during the Eid vacation, and after it. As the highways become free when people begin to return from home after Eid, many people try to drive vehicles in excess speed and the number of accidents increase,” he said.
The AIGP said this to the journalists while inspecting the overall condition of the homebound people on Dhaka-Chattogram highway.
Cumilla District Superintendent of Police Abdul Mannan and Additional DIG of Highway Police in Cumilla Region Khairul Alam were present at this time, along with various levels of police officials including.
Shahabuddin Khan said, “Many passengers sit up in open trucks, pickups and goods carriers which is extremely dangerous. We have taken strict measures this year to ensure that no passengers board on these common transports. We will also be strict in enforcing the law and also request the drivers and vehicle owners not to choose these dangerous mediums. Only then our Eid trip will be safe.”
