At least five security guards including two ansar members of the Rampal Power Plant in Bagerhat were injured while they were obstructing dacoity on Wednesday night.
The incident happened at the gate of the residential building of the Rampal Power Plant.
Rampal Power Plant deputy general manager Anwarul Azim confirmed the matter.
He said 50-60 dacoits were tried to enter the residential building of the Rampal Power Plant. While on duty security guards barred them, bandits attacked them, leaving five of the guards injured. In retaliation, security guards opened fire and the dacoits fled the scene.
Two seriously injured were taken to Khulna Medical College for better treatment, he added.
Rampal Police Station Officer-in-Charge Soumen Das said police have started a drive to nab the culprits and police have been deployed on the spot.
