Bashundhara Group has distributed sewing machines among insolvent women in Dinajpur, a professional gift given after imparting tailoring training to them.
Imdadul Haq Milan, famed litterateur and Editor-in-Chief of daily Kaler Kantho, handed over the sewing machines to successful trainees at a ceremony at Madhapur Mistripara in Dinajpur municipality area on Sunday.
Speaking as chief guest, Imdadul Haq Milan said " Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman dreamt of building Sonar Bangla (Golden Bengal) and his daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is putting her efforts into implementing the dreams."
About role of Bashundhara Group, he said the largest industrial conglomerate is facilitating study of students of insolvent communities, establishing schools and libraries at remote belts, imparting tailoring training to insolvent, widow and downtrodden women, constructing homes for homeless and granting shops to unemployed.
Bashundhara Group is undertsking various charitable schemes in aid of the government to give impetus to the socioeconomic strides of the country, he added.
Shuvosangho, a social organisation of Bashundhara Group's vernacular daily Kaler Kantho, came up with the training in its centre which continues to produce new hands in the field.
Imdadul Haq Milan also said Bashundhara Group grants stipend to 3,000 students with an amount ranging from Tk 1,000 to 10,000 per month.
Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan has initiated 100 Shuvosangho schools across the country of which 10 already came into being and operational, he said.
Recalling contributions of Bashundhara Group, lawmaker from Dinajpur-1 constituency Manoranjan Shill Gopal, said if other corporate bodies and well-off people follow the example, it will be easy for an indeal society to be constructed.
