Dhaka-17 constituency by-polls independent candidate Ashraful Hossain Alam alias Hero Alam has got back his candidacy.
Ashoke Kumar Debnath, additional secretary of Election Commission, confirmed the decision while talking to reporters at the commission office in Agargaon on Thursday afternoon.
Earlier on June 18, returning Officer Md Monir Hossain Khan cancelled the nomination papers of eight candidates, including Hero Alam.
Hero Alam filed an appeal with the election commission on June 20.
The constituency fell vacant following the death of actor Akbar Hossain Pathan Farooque.
